Also known as  NGC 5128, Centaurus A is the closest active Galaxy to our Milky Way at only 11 million light years away (when I say close, I mean space close).

The center of the galaxy contains a supermassive black hole with a mass equivalent to 55 million solar masses (or 55 million versions of our sun).

Around 200 – 700 million years ago Centaurus A injested a much smaller and dustier Galaxy which is now causing the birth of a new batch of stars.
